Prescott WordmongersThe writers in Prescott finally have an internet home! Originally brought together by National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in 2007, this site is designed to help us stay in touch all year long. The forums are private, as we sometimes share snippets of our original writing in hopes of constructive feedback. To gain access, all you have to do is creating an account.
While designed for writers of the Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Paulden and Dewey area, we welcome anyone in other nearby communities in Arizona. Come on in and set a spell! National Novel Editing MonthNote that the virtual meetings have been moved to Friday night. Currently we have no live meetings set up. Hopefully that will change sometime this spring.
The look of the website has been changed. The way it was set up before, it wasn’t very user-friendly to smaller monitors. This one will adjust its layout to however big your browser window it. And you will discover a new logo up on top of the page, inspired by NaNoWriMo 2008. Enjoy! Now, let’s get to the topic of writing. Did you know March is “National Novel Editing Month"? From March 1-31, the idea is to put 50 hours of work into your novel, whipping it into shape. I’ve already signed up, and you can find me in the Arizona region forum. Even if you have only a few hours a week, how about getting out that novel and working on it again? Editing approaches are as varied as how people write. Holly Lisle’s “One Pass Revision” is one method that may be of help. If anyone knows of any other web links, point them to the forum and I’ll see about getting them onto the Links page! Registration is Open! While there is still some graphic work still going on (including the main Banner and the banner in Chat), the site is up, running, and ready for activity. The Forums are open, I've started putting information in the Event Calendar, and Chat is operational.
The Chat, while it is tied to the main Database, is for some reason still asking for a login. I'm working to get that fixed. However, the exact same username and password for this side of the site works on for the Chat (which tells me it *IS* connecting to the database, it's just being a brat about seamlessly taking you to the chat room). The Live Chat works in any browser, no special software required! If anyone has any writing articles they would like to post, links, or suggestions, just let us know! Configuration On-GoingWe are in the midst of setting up the website. For now memberships are turned off until all the configuration, settings and graphic work is finished (or at least usable). But expect the doors to open soon!
