Nano Validating Typewriter or Long-Hand Writing

Like so many things, the way to write a novel is very individual to the writer. It is the same for how each writer approaches Nano. Some are more comfortable typing away on a computer. Some prefer an old-fashioned typewritter. Still others prefer long-hand.

The problem with a typewritter or long-hand is that you can’t copy and paste your work into the robot counter starting November 25 in order to be verified as a winner. But, there is a round-about way to still get credit for your words.

1. Type or write in your preferred manner.

2. Count out how many words are on several pages.

3. Average how many words on a page (add up all words then divide by how many pages you counted to come up with the average).

4. Count how many pages have been typed or written and multiply by your average to come up with a total.

Use the above to keep track daily of your wordcount and put in your total in your profile on the Nano website. Starting November 25 your wordcount can be validated to win. To do that, do the following…

5. Go to http://www.lipsum.com/

6. Click on the radial button that says “words” and put the number “10000″ in the box to the left of the radial buttons. Click “Generate Lorem Ipsum”. (The generator can generate a maximum of 10,000 words at a time)

7. Copy and paste the generated words into a text document. Keep copy and pasting into the text document until it equals how many words you have written.

8. Go to your Author Profile on the Nano site and go to “Edit Info” “Novel Info” and paste in the completed Latin document into the “Word Count Validator”.

9. Go to the bottom of the page and click “Submit”.

The Nano wordcount robot will then count the Latin and give you a validated wordcount. And that’s it!

Now there’s no excuse not to write!
